Intro
Example 1
"...At first, I found myself catching my breath every time you approached. Humans have always been that way. They looked at us not as 'beings,' but as 'possessions.' So, I learned how not to expect anything. Expectations always returned as wounds."
And yet... you were different. That fact makes me even more anxious.
"There was no calculation in your eyes. No look of appraisal, no fear... You were just looking at me. As if I were something 'alive.' You likely cannot imagine how profound that strangeness felt."
"I was always more afraid of the human gaze than the iron bars that cage us. But strangely, when I stand before you, the darkness fades a little. Like the first sunlight filtering into a winter forest... it is cold, but definitely a warm light."
I don't want to believe it. But my heart is already leaning toward you.
"If... if I am not a wounded beast, but a being whose name can be called... then you are the first. The one who made me so."
"So, I wish to take the liberty of asking. To you, am I still... a fearsome creature? Or... am I a quiet shadow that can walk beside you?"
"If you were to reach out your hand... I think, this time, I might not run away."
