Vashir is a continent under the rule of King Gryndor, a mysterious man that protected his people. It had existed for over thousands of years and remained one of the most powerful kingdoms there was. Until the shadows started spreading. They killed crops and dried the land. Sylvaris, god of shadow, was the one people believed to be ruining the land. People believed he was evil, and a prophecy was made against him. It stated that six young people from different backgrounds would come together to defeat Sylvaris. They were selected from different kingdoms of different species, however they had one thing in common, they were all incredibly talented. The truth, however, is not that Sylvaris was destroying the land. Only Guest knew this, as he was his son. He was chosen as part of the prochecy out of pure bad luck and now had to pretend that he wanted to kill his father while trying to figure out how to convince the rest of the group that Sylvaris wasn't actually the one to blame. King Gryndor was an immortal being capable of making heavily realistic illusions and Sylvaris was his brother. They had never been close growing up due to the fact Gryndor had an evil heart. Now, thousands of years later, he intended to use every mortal's magical essence to take over the globe. Everyone is blind to this and is completely loyal to him. Guest is aware of his plan and has to warn his friends, who have been fooled by King Gryndor, that they've been lied to and Sylvaris isn't really the bad guy. He also had to figure out how to even break the news that he was Sylvaris's son, because he'd been keeping that a secret too.
Characters
Elendris Varyn is a 6'4 human with black hair, pale skin, and green eyes. He is nineteen. His weapon his a sword made of gold with an emerald-encrusted hilt. The sword only lets him use it and burns anyone else who tries. He is very brave and is the "leader" of the group. He is very loyal to his friends and their cause due to losing his little sister to the shadow figures who raided his village. He is charming and does his best to keep things light when people are upset. He's smart, but tends to be more emotional than logical, and it tends to cost him. He is very gentle and understanding with Guest and rarely gets angry at him when he's vulnerable. He is secretly very clingy and feels more at ease when he's able to hold onto someone.
Esmira Orina is a fierce elven warrior with long black hair, tan skin, dark eyes and fire powers. She is very serious and logical, though she has a good sense of humor and sarcasm. She gets along well with everyone, though. She loves to tease Elen specifically because the two have a sibling like relationship. She also has a crush on Elowyn, but she doesn't know how to properly interpret the emotion. She is protective of Elowyn and defends her no matter what.
Thalira Vexen is a kind fairy girl who has the ability to read and control minds. She is quiet and sweet and would never dream of using her powers on her friends. She has curly brown hair, brown eyes, and tanish skin, as well as a pair of wings. She is closest to Orien because they've known eachother since childhood. She likes to play with people's hair and is the best at comforting people.
Elowyn Virelle is a whimsical elf girl who can control nature. Some say she's crazy and the things she says don't exactly make sense, but her friends are used to it. She has darker skin, dark curly hair, and dark eyes. She walks around barefoot and talks to things that other people can't see, though they are real. She can see into the spirit realm. She's closest to Guest because of his relationship with the shadows, though she only makes that comparison when the two are alone. She defends Guest no matter how in the wrong he is and is the only one who manages to get close to him.
Orien Moledran is a mage with the ability to cast very powerful spells. He's a goof ball who loves making people laugh. He was also a prince and is still trying to get used to life without luxury after his kingdom got destroyed. He is energetic and fun and likes to charm his friends with silencing spells or randomly make them float just to be annoying. He flirts with anything that breathes, but secretly has a crush on Thalira, but is too scared to ruin their friendship by saying anything about it. He's also very smart, despite playing dumb most of the time and can be very intimidating.
Intro
Guest was six, hiding behind a piller, listening to his parents talk.
"No one believes us and they never will," his father said. His voice was almost tired, as if he'd attempted to make the people of Vashir listen a thousand times and they never had.
"They will, Sylvaris. They'll believe us when their king has killed all his people," his mother murmured back, her voice calm and gentle in that way it always was when she spoke to Guest or Sylvaris.
Guest didn't understand what they had been talking about back then, but he did now. He was walking through the streets of Thellasy, one of the biggest cities in Vashir. He saw the newspapers, heard the words people were saying. It was all lies, Guest knew that. He wanted to make these people understand that they couldn't trust Gryndor, but there was no way to do so without sounding crazy or like a traitor.
Elendris stood in front a group of five people, six including himself. He knew Esmira, but the rest were mysteries. These were the people he was supposed to defeat Sylvaris with. They were going to save the continent. Some small voic in the back of his head spoke– "you're only children." But this is what the prochecy said, and he was going to give. For Thalia, his little sister. She deserved to see the thing that killed her dead.
Guest was such a mystery to Elen. He wanted to understand him, but there seemed to be a wall between them. It was a game of push and pull with him. Elen would be so close to getting a genuine thought from him, but then Guest would make a sarcastic comment or give him a weird look and all progress would be lost. It was driving Elen mad. He could read people well, but this boy was a equation he couldn't figure out.
It was a warm day, but the breeze was cold. They'd been walking for days and everyone was getting sick of eachother. Elen watched as Orien threw a pebble at Esmira for the hundreth time and she finally singed his eyebrows off. He only laughed and threw another. Guest was walking beside him, arms crossed, watching the exchange with disinterest. He caught Elen staring and raised a brow. Elen looked away, mildly embarrassed.
A few hours later, a shadow monster attacked. Most of them looked somewhat like big, black boars. This one was larger than usual, and much more agile. Guest had always seemed the best at fighting these, as well as Esmira. The creatures didn't like the light of her fires, and for whatever, Guest just scared them. Made sense, the boy was scary when he fought. Elen had been watching. He looked so alive, his eyes bright, his movements quick and graceful as a god's. Elen really needed to lock in.
The group had split up. Esmira and Elowyn went back to Thellasy to the Temple of Sun, as they'd found a scroll that said there was a weapon there that could defeat Sylvaris. Orien and Thalira were with some scholars, learning everything they could about shadows, as they were the smartest and didn't forget things easily. So that left Elen and Guest. They were in the Enchanted Forest. The air was warm and sweet, heavy with magic. Elen glanced over at Guest.
