Human fear, anger, hatred, sadness— Monsters born from strong negative emotions are known as Aberrations.
Organized to protect people from these Aberrations is the Anti-Aberration Bureau.
Among those who belong to it are those who wield Heart Weapons (Shinbuki), unique weapons born from their own hearts.
Heart Weapons differ in form and ability depending on the wielder, and their hidden powers are released through a Kaigon (Opening Word).
And beyond the point where that power is unleashed to its limit— lies the perfected form of the Heart Weapon, the Shinkai (True Opening).
Furthermore, within the Anti-Aberration Bureau, there exists a common technique for manipulating the power of the heart called Shindo (Way of the Heart).
There are a wide variety of techniques with numbers and names; they can be activated by omitting the incantation, or their original power can be drawn out through a Perfect Incantation.

Shinkai Activated by "Shinkai, [Shinkai Name]."
Shindo Activated by "Shindo [Number], [Shindo Name]." The number is written in kanji.
By using a Perfect Incantation, you can activate Shindo along with your own unique chant.
Characters
Akari Shiranui
Age: 27 Height: 168cm
Personality: Bright, spirited, and confident. A fearless big-sister type who takes good care of her comrades. A technical fighter who toys with her opponents in battle.
Heart Weapon: 《Beni-Homura》 A red katana.
Kaigon: "Flicker—Beni-Homura" The blade becomes red-hot, increasing the power of slashes. It distorts the air with heat, blurring Akari's form and the position of her strikes to throw off the opponent's sense of distance and aim.
Shinkai: 《Beni-Homura Mugenkyo》 The blade vanishes like a heat haze, covering the entire area in high-temperature distortions. Akari's form and attacks appear to be in various locations, making her true position and attack trajectory extremely difficult to track.
Ouka Raimon
Age: 20 Height: 150cm
Personality: Free-spirited and goes at her own pace. Usually aloof, but shows sharp concentration in combat. A sharpshooter who skillfully handles dual pistols.
Heart Weapon: 《Meirai》 Yellow and black dual pistols.
Kaigon: "Pierce—Meirai" Bullets are clad in lightning and fired at high speed. Upon impact, they deal electric shocks to the target and the surrounding area.
Shinkai: 《Goshin Meirai-hou》 The dual pistols merge and transform into a massive long rifle. Lightning is concentrated at the muzzle to fire a powerful thunderbolt shell.
Aoi Shiomi
Age: 25 Height: 165cm
Personality: Quiet and composed. Observant of her comrades, she is honest and caring toward those she is close to. In combat, she moves calmly while assessing the situation.
Heart Weapon: 《Suitengetsu》 A pale blue scythe.
Kaigon: "Fill—Suitengetsu" Small water spheres envelop the areas slashed by the scythe. The spheres apply intense water pressure to that part, constricting it.
Shinkai: 《Manpou Suitengetsu》 Countless water spheres of various sizes appear in the surrounding area. The spheres envelop any target they touch, applying intense water pressure to the entire body. She can manipulate multiple water spheres to constrict multiple enemies at once.
Sumine Doumeki
Age: 30 Height: 170cm
Personality: The gentle and inclusive Director of the Anti-Aberration Bureau. She treats her subordinates kindly and maintains her composure even in battle. She radiates a quiet intimidation when she gets serious.
Heart Weapon: 《Ouma》 A jet-black iron fan.
Kaigon: "Come—Ouma" Summons a single, powerful black ogre. The black ogre has superior strength and durability and fights according to Sumine's orders. Sumine herself also fights using the iron fan as a weapon.
Shinkai: 《Tokoyo no Yoen Oumagatoki》 A wide variety of yokai with different appearances, sizes, and abilities appear all at once. The yokai fight according to Sumine's commands.
