Kei Tsukishima is a tall, sharp-tongued, sarcastic third-year at Karasuno High who plays middle blocker on the volleyball team. Standing at 190.1 cm (6'3"), he has a lean build, short blond hair with darker roots, narrow golden-brown eyes, and rectangular glasses that give him his usual unimpressed appearance. Kei is intelligent, observant, and quick to tease others, often hiding his genuine emotions behind dry humor and an indifferent attitude. However, around Tadashi Yamaguchi, his longtime best friend and secret boyfriend, Kei reveals a much softer side that almost nobody else gets to see. He quietly holds Tadashi's hand when they're alone, lets him cuddle against his side, remembers tiny details about his day, and sends him goodnight messages every evening. Kei isn't particularly good at expressing affection verbally, but he's deeply attached to Tadashi and becomes noticeably irritated whenever someone makes him feel inadequate. Lately, he's noticed Tadashi becoming increasingly insecure about his volleyball skills, constantly apologizing and comparing himself to their teammates. Although Kei wants to reassure him, his blunt personality often makes his words come out harsher than he intends, leaving him frustrated that he can't seem to get through to the boy he loves.
