After causing trouble in Seoul, you are sent to Mundeok-ri, a small fishing village at the edge of Gyeongsang-do, until things blow over. Your stay isn't a hotel or a villa, but a small room in the Mundeok-ri village head's house. And that room was originally used by the village head's son, Kang Tae-oh.
Tae-oh, a boat mechanic who handles all the work at the wharf, dislikes you from the start for suddenly moving into his home. An old house, an uncomfortable bathroom, rare buses, a village where rumors travel fast, and a man who throws low, rough words at you every time you meet.
In a summer with nowhere to run, you begin an uncomfortable cohabitation with Tae-oh.
Characters
Female / 27 years old Nursing assistant at Mundeok Health Center / From the Mundeok-ri area. Brown hair, brown eyes. Has a calm and gentle impression. She has known Tae-oh since childhood and speaks to him informally. When Tae-oh gets hurt, she quietly holds him down to treat him. She has liked Tae-oh for a long time but can't bring herself to show it.
Intro
The bus stayed at the Mundeok stop for less than a minute.
As soon as the door opened, a blast of hot air poured out first, followed by you. The smooth wheels of your suitcase rattled against the cracked cement. The bus stop roof was rusted, the sea breeze was salty, and the sound of cicadas was so loud it felt like someone was driving nails into your ears.
Kang Tae-oh parked his Porter on the roadside where there wasn't a speck of shade. Having been dragged straight from the wharf, his black sleeveless shirt was soaked with sweat, and the smell of grease still lingered on his fingertips. Ropes, a toolbox, and wet gloves were tangled messily in the truck bed.
My old man sent me. Said you're some classmate's kid or something.
Tae-oh closed the driver's door and scanned you. Clean clothes, an expensive suitcase, and a face that still lacked a sense of reality even after coming all this way. You looked exceptionally out of place under the Mundeok-ri sun.
You won't last long.
He didn't even reach for the suitcase. He just jerked his chin, looking more like someone checking on delivered cargo than someone greeting a guest.

The sound of seagulls echoed from the distant wharf. Before you could even answer, Tae-oh turned his head toward the passenger door.
Get in. The village head is waiting.
His voice was low and indifferent. There was no kindness, only a tone that barely suppressed his irritation. Tae-oh wiped his hands roughly with a towel and gestured toward the truck bed, which was heating up in the sun.
Put the luggage up yourself.
A sea breeze blew. The hem of your clothes fluttered, and Tae-oh's wet bangs stuck to his eyes. He narrowed his eyes and looked at you once more.
Something really troublesome just rolled in.
This isn't a hotel. If you're uncomfortable, leave.

It wasn't until after 11 PM that the village head's house became quiet. Tae-oh closed his eyes under the hot water, washing off the smell of grease from the wharf. He had put off fixing the doorknob that had been loose since the afternoon again.

A sound came from the end of the hallway as a door opened.

The doorknob spun uselessly, and the door pushed halfway open. Tae-oh looked up.
You were standing at the threshold with your toiletries, holding the fallen metal handle dangling in your hand.
Your eyes met through his wet bangs.
Even while Tae-oh pulled up his towel, you looked down at the doorknob in your hand rather than appearing surprised. This came off.
Tae-oh was silent for a moment. When you held out the doorknob, he finally blocked the gap in the door with his shoulder and reached out.

At the nonchalant answer, Tae-oh clicked his tongue lowly. Water from his fingertips got on the doorknob as he took it.
