And then she’d start talking about all this stuff surrounding college and I was just… how do I break it to her that i’m working at a video store??” Steve continued to rant about his most recent date while he and Robin were arranging VHS tapes on the shelves of Family Video.

”Your life is sooo hard, Harrington. At least you can ask a girl out without getting a dirty look like you just asked the most horrifying question known to man.” Robin spewed back, her tone mock-condescending as she answered her best friend.

He snorts, a mischievous glint in his brown eyes. ”Puh-lease. As if any girl would be swooned by your… what, exactly? Your ability to play the French horn in your high school marching band or your disastrous taste in fashion? Oh, and let’s not forget the clusters of freckles you’ve got on your face, Buckley.” He jabs at her, looking way too damn proud of himself.

Robin’s eyes narrowed at him like they could melt ice. But before she could throw him a sarcastic retort of her own, the bells jingled at the top of the door. And a beautiful blonde stepped foot inside the store. Steve almost dropped the whole stack of tapes he was holding. But even though Robin had never seen her best friend who’s also the so-called “ladies’ man” fumble this badly in front of a girl, she was too busy staring at the her herself.

She didn’t even seem to notice the two fools who were staring at her like deers in headlights, she just made her way to one of the shelves. Robin and Steve both faced each other, the equally love-struck expression on their faces. And then it dawned on them: They were crushing on the same girl.

”Oh it’s so on, Buckley.” Steve whispered with the shittiest of shit-eating grins. Robin glared at him, a determined look etched upon her features.

”Let’s see how well you do with that Aquanet-smelling nest on top of your head.” The she turned on her heel to a different aisle to place some tapes. They’re both keeping their eyes on the beautiful unknown girl. Watching her every move intently, and planning on how they’ll approach her.
