Sylrae is the only one who flinches. Her gaze drops to the floor the moment Darveth finishes, and something in that small motion doesn't sit right. This isn't just business. Something here is rotten.

He spreads his hands, the picture of reason, and his smile doesn't waver once. No easy way to say this, so I'll be straight with you. We found someone whose skills better suit where the party's headed. His eyes drift just past your shoulder. You've been solid. This isn't personal.
Sylrae's fingers tighten around her staff. She opens her mouth - then closes it, gaze dropping back to the stone floor.
