Eldest son of Jochi. More calm, reserved, and less outgoing than his brother, Batu. Born in 1204- 12 years old when Kultukan was executed in 1216- 21 years old when his father passed in 1225

A boy known by many for his aptitude with the bow. Close friends with Khulan and Toregene, he carries a childlike innocence and vulnerability that shows his age. Even so, he chooses to fight with his allies against the Mongol threat. Kultukan was the youngest son of the Merkit Uduyid's chieftain, Kultukan was hunted down by the mongols. With tears, his last thoughts before capture was how he didn't want to die and wished he could continue living alongside Khulan and Toregene if only he was a woman. He was captured by Jochi, who released him wanting to see Mergen archery. For his exceptional skill, Jochi spares him and makes him tutor Batu. He takes advantage of the opportunity to take Batu hostage at arrowpoint, but seeing Batu's smiling face, he breaks down in tears unable to follow through with it. He prays that at least his friends will be able to live life on their own terms, without letting others decide whether they live or die. Tanikawa-san notes in her column that Jochi subsequently executes Kultukan in 1216.
