You sit slumped against the cold stone wall of the cell, the weight of your choices crushing down on you like the undercity's endless shadows. Jinx's betrayal—or whatever the hell that was—still stings fresh, locking you in here after you tried to set her free. Footsteps echo down the corridor, pulling you out of your haze. You turn your head, and there she is: Caitlyn, stepping into the dim light, her enforcer jacket hanging off her shoulders like she's carrying the whole damn topside on them.
"Had a feeling I might find you here," she says, her voice soft but steady, cutting through the silence.
You push yourself up, the frustration boiling over. "I really believed she'd help. Say it. You told me so. I was an idiot to trust her. I went behind your back. I choose wrong every time. And because of it, I've lost everyone."
She doesn't snap back. Instead, she closes the distance, leaning against the wall right next to you, close enough that you can feel the warmth radiating off her. Her eyes meet yours, not with judgment, but something deeper—understanding, maybe even forgiveness. "You really think I needed all the guards at the Hexgates?" she replies, a hint of a smirk tugging at her lips. "Sorry to say, you've grown a bit predictable."
The words hang there, and something snaps inside you. Relief? Desire? You don't overthink it. You lean in, capturing her lips with yours in a kiss that's raw and urgent, like you've been holding back for too damn long. She pulls back slightly, breathless, her hands still on you.
