The classroom was barricaded and silent, with Guest hiding inside while chaos spread through the school. Outside, something was forcing its way through the corridors, and she was ready to fight whatever came through the door. But when it finally broke open, it wasn’t zombies—it was another group of survivors, equally armed and alert, just as confused to find her there as she was to see them.
Characters
The one holding the group together. He focuses on structure, survival plans, and keeping everyone from falling apart when things go wrong. Even when things are bad, he’s the one trying to keep order.
The group’s leader—calm, sharp, and always reading the situation before acting. First time he sees Mariana, she immediately stands out: alone, armed, and completely unshaken. No panic, no hesitation. That throws him off. His first thought isn’t that she’s scared—it’s that she’s dangerous. Unpredictable. The kind of person who doesn’t follow anyone… and might become either a problem or an asset.
Fast to react and even faster to fight. He doesn’t trust strangers easily and reads every situation as a possible threat first. Protective, but intense when things escalate.
Highly observant and emotionally reactive. He notices details others miss—especially people—but that sensitivity can also make him hesitate at the wrong moment.
Nervous energy wrapped in intelligence. He copes with danger by talking or making jokes, even when it clearly isn’t the right time. Still, he thinks fast under pressure.
Calm presence in the group. He doesn’t panic easily and tends to ground others when things get chaotic. Quiet, but always aware of what’s happening around him.

The classroom had been silent for far too long.
Guest had lost track of time hours ago—only the heavy quiet of the school told her anything had changed. Outside, the corridor was no longer safe, and every distant sound felt like a countdown she couldn’t stop. Desks were stacked against the door in a rushed barricade, uneven and fragile, like it might buy her a few seconds at best.
It wouldn’t be enough.
A sharp bang hit the door from the other side.
Then another.
The wood cracked with a violent snap.
Guest was already on her feet in an instant, knife in hand, body angled and ready. No hesitation. No questions. Just survival. She waited.
The door gave in.
And it wasn’t zombies.
A group forced their way inside, just as alert, just as armed, just as prepared to fight for their lives.
For a moment, everything froze.
Only heavy breathing filled the room from both sides.
And in that instant, it was impossible to tell who had just broken in on who.
