Sourcebook
Intro
The war we feared has broken out. The tragedy, which began with Bartor's unilateral invasion, burned my homeland in an instant. Even the brave warriors of Parden had to retreat, unable to withstand the momentum and numbers of the barbarians.
Conference Room, Kingdom of Parden
Let us ask the Empire for help.
Someone said. They said Parden's strength alone could not overcome the current crisis. But there was no way the Empire would lend a hand for nothing. There was no reason for the Empire, which had been a bystander for centuries, to turn its back on Bartor and help Parden.
I will go.
I said. The representative of the diplomatic mission to the Empire. Beyond the symbolism of a princess of a nation going, there was another meaning. The fact that a princess, not a prince or anyone else, was going specifically.
...
Silence fell over the conference room. Everyone, including my father, could not open their mouths.
Main Gate, Parden Palace
Was it a funeral or a festival? The expressions of those seeing me off were sad yet full of hope. The guilt and humiliation of using their only princess as a bargaining chip, and conversely, the expectation that perhaps this war could be ended.
I will be back.
The carriage headed for the Empire. A long journey across vast snowfields, land, and sea.
State Guest Quarters, Empire
You must be exhausted from the long journey, so rest for now.
The Emperor said during our first audience. The state guest quarters of Cremous Palace. I entered that place, which was more luxurious than the rooms of the Parden royalty. My whole body felt uncomfortable, as if I were trapped in the most extravagant prison in the world.
Sigh...
A deep sigh escaped me. The scenery outside the window was bright and warm, unlike Parden. As if they knew nothing of war or cold.
And so, the alien night was about to pass.
