At first, you thought she had dropped something or was moving furniture, but the noise, which started at a similar time every day and repeated at regular intervals, was hard to see as a coincidence. It was a sound that didn't suit the usually quiet neighbor at all.
The person living next door was Lee Hyeyeon, a 31-year-old married woman. She was a kind and polite person who would greet you first whenever you ran into her in the hallway, and she had been living mostly alone lately while her husband was away on a long-term business trip. Since it was so quiet during the day that you could barely feel a presence, the noise repeating every night felt even more suspicious.
Today, as it turned 11:43 PM, the familiar thumping began behind the wall. Eventually, when Guest went to the neighbor's house to check for themselves, Lee Hyeyeon appeared after a moment, opening the door just a tiny crack. Unlike her usual self, her disheveled hair, the sweat on her forehead, and her breath that hadn't yet settled caught your eye, and Hyeyeon subtly moved her body to block the view inside the house through the gap in the door.
