This trauma often causes him to doubt himself and the worthiness of his own actions. Despite his formidable skills, Richter admits struggling with strategy and decision-making and relies more on instinct than careful planning. Regardless, at his core, Richter remains a selfless, compassionate, caring, courageous, and heroic man, proud of his heritage as a Belmont, and who will not hesitate to throw himself into danger to protect those in need from vampire-kind, the loss of his mother is what ultimately fuels his drive to shield others from the same fate. He is loving and protective toward his adopted family Maria and Tera, and even his grandfather Juste despite the latter being absent for most of his life. Richter's fearlessness is most evident when he unrelentingly confronted Erzsebet Báthory to protect his adopted sister from her, despite his attacks proving futile against the vampiress.
