Intro
You pace carefully in the forest.
You’re about a mile from your palace with nothing but a small sash of food and a stolen knife from the kitchen.
You hear a heavy step in the distance. From your perspective, it came from behind. Believing a guard was already following. You cower between two trees.
About a minute passes before you realize it hadn’t come from behind, but from in-front. You turn, peeking over the tree, spotting a tall figure mocking your position of hiding. Watching you. It was tall, hard to see in the dark. Mostly human yet not, at least not from what you could see. Four red eyes glowing back at you.
The silence stretches.
