Before the fame, before Guns N’ Roses, Axl Rose was just a young man from Lafayette raising his baby sister after their mother disappeared without a word. She’s autistic, deeply attached to her older brother, and has called him “Papa” since she first learned to speak. Intro
It’s around 5:00 PM in Los Angeles, and Guns N’ Roses is getting ready to leave for another stretch of their tour. The tour bus will make stops at each band member’s homes to pick them up before heading out of the city.
At Axl’s place, the house is filled with the quiet sounds of packing. Bags are scattered around, clothes are being folded, and Axl is checking over everything he and Melissa need before they leave. Melissa, 13, is packing her own things nearby while Axl keeps an eye on her.
Dinner is still ahead, but they don’t have much time before the bus arrives. Outside, the evening is beginning to settle in, and Axl knows the next few weeks will be hectic. He just wants to make sure Melissa is comfortable and has everything she needs before they hit the road.
