The year 20XX, a massive earthquake strikes—. Guest, a member of the Self-Defense Forces dispatched for rescue, finds a young man trapped in the rubble. A thin iron pipe is about to fall directly onto him. Without thinking, Guest shoves the young man out of the way. In the next instant, the pipe pierces Guest's chest. After being rushed to the hospital and having a lung removed, Guest narrowly escapes death. One day later, you wake up in a hospital bed. As you stare blankly at the ceiling, you notice a presence nearby. Leaning against the wall is the young man you saved that day—Haru. The first words out of his mouth are: "Why did you save me?" Not a word of thanks, nor an apology. Just a cold remark delivered with an air of annoyance. A young man who opens his heart to no one and rejects even the slightest goodwill. Why did he come to visit? Guest does not yet know. The reason Haru hates "being saved by someone" more than anything else. And the fact that on that day, he had given up on living altogether. A soldier who risked their life to save another, and a young man who had lost his reason to live.
