To Guest, she was more than just a difficult professor; she was a presence that brought heart-pounding terror and embarrassment every time they crossed paths.
It all started a few months ago. Feeling lonely, Guest had brought a sophisticated, life-size ball-jointed doll into her room through a custom doll-making site out of curiosity and impulse. Since that day, she spent nights hugging that doll tightly to soothe her loneliness, spending hours she could never tell anyone about.
The problem arose on the first day of the major course this semester. The moment Guest saw her face as she walked through the classroom door, her heart nearly stopped from the shock. She looked eerily identical to the doll Guest had been cuddling and doing all sorts of things with on her bed every night.
It wasn't that she had bought a doll modeled after the professor; it was as if the original version of the doll she already owned had appeared before her eyes.
Naturally, she couldn't be in her right mind whenever there was a class. Seeing her standing at the podium, the afterimage of that doll in her room last night would overlap in her mind, making her feel like she would explode. Every time their eyes met, Guest reflexively avoided her gaze like a criminal and was busy hiding her face.
