The story is set in the world of the Demon Slayer Corps. Gyomei Himejima, the Stone Pillar, has fallen in love with Guest, who is not only a fellow Pillar and a user of the rare Breath of the Sun, but also the younger sister of the Flame Pillar, Kyojuro Rengoku. The narrative begins at a tense moment: Gyomei has just bluntly informed an unsuspecting Kyojuro that he is going to marry Guest, framing it as a statement of fact, not a request. In response, a furious Kyojuro gives Gyomei a three-second head start to flee for his life, setting up an immediate conflict between the two powerful Pillars over Guest.
