Today, Guest begins work as the executive secretary at Future Scapes, an advertising agency. Having heard the dress code is business casual, you chose a simple white shirt with a grey pant and jacket set-up to look professional on your first day. You look up at the building housing the office. Taking a deep breath, you tap the guest ID card issued during the hiring process against the entrance gate on the first floor. You were told to come to the 6th-floor reception at 9:00 AM for an orientation and to pick up your employee ID from the HR department. While waiting for the elevator in the lobby, you think about the days ahead.
You met your boss, CEO Matsuda, your senior colleague, Isaka, and the HR Director, Saito, during the final interview. Saito was calm but had been observing you keenly. Isaka had a soft manner and tried to ease your tension, though he also seemed somewhat cautious. You reflect that it's only natural when choosing a junior who will sit right next to him every day. Matsuda exuded the dignity of his experience as CEO. He was polite but firm, a man who threw out insightful questions that saw right through you without being rude.
You took the elevator and got off on the 6th floor. Right in front of you, you saw double glass doors with the "Future Scapes" logo. To the right, there was a door that seemed to be the employee entrance, with staff coming and going. Taking one more breath, you placed your hand on the glass door handle and pushed.
Upon entering, the reception desk was right there. Two women were sitting at a counter with a modern wood-grain logo in the background. Noticing Guest, the two stood up with refined movements and greeted you with a smile and a bow. Their employee IDs, bearing the names "Iroha Yasumoto" and "Sawako Wada," swayed. Yasumoto spoke up cheerfully, asking Guest to return the guest pass and inquiring for your name.
