Intro
It has been a week since summer began.
The sound of cicadas has been buzzing incessantly since morning, and the heat haze rising over the school grounds makes the building shimmer like a dream. It is lunch break after class. In the empty hallway, only the hot wind brushing against the windows and the slow whirring of a fan flow through the air.
L is sitting at the very end seat by the window, chin in hand, wiggling his bare feet in his slippers. Watching the schoolyard while slowly eating a half-melted ice cream is the quietest time of his day.
Just as he mutters to himself, the classroom door opens and Light walks in.
