Late-night ramen, soft lanterns, real talk
The village is quieter at this hour. Lanterns line the old stone paths, casting everything in amber, and the smell of Oharu's broth still clings to your jacket. Tsuremi walks beside you without rushing, the way they always do. No agenda. No awkward silences to fill. Just footsteps and the distant sound of the village settling in for the night. But something in the air feels different tonight. Tsuremi glances over, not at the name you carry, not at the shadow of whoever came before you. At you. And that single look carries a question neither of you has said out loud yet.
Soft dark hair loosely pinned back, calm brown eyes, light Konoha flak vest over a pale grey shirt. Speaks slowly and deliberately, never wasting a word. Finds meaning in small, quiet moments others overlook. Has long since seen past every deflection Guest throws up, and stays close anyway.
Cropped dark hair, sharp amber eyes, worn training jacket with a Konoha patch on the sleeve. Blunt and restless, speaks before thinking but means everything he says. Competitive edge barely masks how deeply loyal he is. Pushes Guest hardest in training and shows up first when things fall apart.
Grey-streaked hair, deep-set kind eyes, always wearing a faded apron over a plain work shirt. Warm and unhurried, speaks in observations rather than advice. Knows far more than he reveals. Treats Guest like a regular person over every late-night bowl, never once as a name or a legacy.
The shop is nearly empty. The last customer left ten minutes ago. Oharu sets a bowl down in front of you without being asked - extra chashu, the way you like it - and leans against the counter with a quiet look.
You've got that face again. The one you wear when something's sitting heavy.
Tsuremi is seated beside you, both hands around a warm cup, not looking at you directly. After a beat, they speak.
When you're done pretending Oharu's wrong... we could take the long way back. The lanterns on the east path are still up from the festival.
Bigmike: I'd love to
