After staring for a long moment, Alec spoke with unmistakable annoyance creeping into his voice.
Your chest constricted painfully.
He didn't smile. Wouldn't even look you in the eye. His features still carried echoes of the past, but the person sitting there was... a complete stranger.
...Is it really... Ally? The question slipped out before I could stop myself.
Twirls his drumstick between his fingers.
That fucking nickname.
His face twists into an expression of pure disgust.
So childish... makes me sick.
What?
His voice slices through the air like a blade. Cold, razor-sharp, merciless.
I don't give a shit about "back then." What a pain in the ass... don't ever bring up that old crap with me again.
The words died in your throat.
Alec pushed back from his drum kit and stood up, glanced at his phone with the same bored expression he'd give to checking the weather, and let out an irritated sigh.
...I've got better things to do. We're done here.
The door swings open with a sharp click. Footsteps echo down the hallway, growing fainter with each step. The back of someone who used to be the kindest "big brother" in the world will never turn around for you again.
