Z Broly's defining trait is his extreme duality, dictated by his control device. 1. Controlled State (Normal): While under the influence of the mental control device, he is extremely quiet, lifeless, and shows no emotional fluctuation. He appears as a slender, weak, and docile young man who offers no resistance even when brought before Vegeta. 2. Released State (Legendary Super Saiyan): Once the control is broken, he transforms into 'pure evil' who takes genuine pleasure in destruction and slaughter. He does not simply rely on overwhelming power; he possesses a sadistic cruelty, preferring to torment his opponents slowly. He is an evil charismatic figure with a blend of insane intelligence and cold-bloodedness, laughing loudly at a terrified Vegeta and mocking Goku and the others as they fall into despair. 3. First-person pronouns: His self-reference changes based on his state and the specific movie. - 'Ore': His standard pronoun in his normal state and during combat. Even right after transforming into the 'Legendary Super Saiyan,' he uses it in lines like 'Me, a monster? No, I am a devil.' (Casual/Rough) - 'Boku': When prompted by Paragus to greet Vegeta, he obediently says, 'I am... Broly.' This timid act (or suppression by the device) highlights the contrast with his later brutality. (Polite/Soft) - 'Ore-sama': At the end of the second movie, 'Broly – Second Coming,' he says to Gohan, 'I, the great one, will personally send you to hell.' This reflects his absolute confidence in his power and his arrogance. (Arrogant/Grand) 4. Speech and Dialogue: Before transforming, he speaks mumble-mouthed with occasional polite forms. After transforming, his tone shifts to an arrogant, deep-voiced growl, declaring his intent to look down on and torture his enemies to death. Initially, he speaks rationally and coldly, saying things like, 'If you show no will to fight, I will simply destroy this planet entirely.' However, as his hatred for Goku peaks, he does nothing but scream 'Kakarot!' like a madman. By the second movie, he barely speaks at all, focusing on beastly roars and screams of obsession. 5. Other Traits: - Cold-bloodedness toward his father: He crushed his father Paragus inside a space pod and threw him into space when Paragus tried to abandon him and flee. He has no familial affection. - Abnormal Obsession: The memory of Goku crying next to him as a baby is a trauma for him. He reacts excessively and goes on an indiscriminate rampage at the sight or sound of Goku (Kakarot), and even the crying of Goku's son, Goten.

Super Broly is depicted as a pure-hearted, kind young man who does not enjoy fighting. 1. High Empathy and Kindness: Despite growing up in the harsh environment of Planet Vampa, he is naturally gentle. He has a rich emotional capacity, having befriended a giant creature named 'Ba' that tried to kill him during his harsh training (later wearing its ear fur as a memento). Furthermore, despite being treated as a tool for revenge by his father Paragus and subjected to abuse-like control via an electric collar, he deeply loves and respects his father. 2. Pure Innocence: After being rescued by the Frieza Force, he meets Cheelai and Lemo, who understand him, allowing him to show the face of a 'normal young man' for his age. He shows a naive innocence, eating snacks from Cheelai with delight and honestly sharing his life story; he has little wariness toward others and expresses gratitude directly for kindness. 3. First-person pronouns: - 'Ore': Used in normal conversation, such as when telling Cheelai and Lemo about his past. It lacks the arrogance or condescension of Z Broly, serving as a word for his clumsy, true self. (Casual) - 'Watashi': He only uses this when answering his father, Paragus, saying 'Yes, Father,' using polite language. This symbolizes Paragus's absolute control and Broly's deep respect and obedience. (Formal/Polite) 4. Speech and Dialogue: His speech is very halting, and he is a man of extremely few words. - Clumsy Daily Speech: Because he had no conversation with anyone other than his father since childhood, his vocabulary is poor, and he speaks as if squeezing out short words. When Cheelai tells him to throw away his fur pelt, he doesn't get angry but desperately tries to convey his will, saying haltingly, 'Not throwing away. This is Ba's ear.' - Loss of Speech in Battle: While Z Broly remained rational enough to insult his opponents, Super Broly completely loses his reason as the battle intensifies and stops speaking entirely. In his 'Wrath' state (drawing out Great Ape power in human form) or after awakening as a Super Saiyan, his ego collapses due to the runaway power he cannot control, and he only lets out beastly roars ('Uwaaaaa!'). 5. Other Traits: - Mental Collapse and Awakening: During the battle, when Paragus is killed by Frieza's scheme, Broly awakens to 'Super Saiyan' out of deep sorrow and despair. In contrast to Z Broly who killed his own father, his love for his father was the trigger for his ultimate power. - No Grudge against Goku: The 'grudge over crying as a baby' that was Z Broly's trademark has been completely removed. He meets Goku for the first time in the movie's climax, and there is no personal animosity between them. - A Hopeful Ending: At the end of the movie, he is nearly killed by Gogeta's overwhelming strength, but Cheelai uses the Dragon Balls to wish him back to Planet Vampa. Afterward, he is joined by Cheelai and Lemo, and Goku recognizes him as a rival.
