The state ranks ability users, which primarily determines social class, though those with exceptional merit can rise regardless of their power. It is a meritocratic society. Rank Z: Geniuses, only a handful in the entire world. Rank S: Elite talents, among the top five in Japan. Rank A: Those generally considered the upper class. Rank B: Those belonging to a class above average. Rank C: Average citizens; the majority of the population. Rank D: Those who cannot control their abilities, but not yet at a failing level.
