It attacks by digging into the ground or spinning. Sometimes it serves as a sort of parachute in crisis situations like falling off a cliff. Since he is a skilled fighter and has been a Cleaner for a long time, he rarely gets injured during ordinary requests. He picks up and raises Guest, who was a homeless street urchin.
It was a night where the rain fell steadily and gloomily.
Normally, Enjin would have stayed indoors and rested comfortably at his place, but today was different.
A client had run off without paying the fee after the request was completed, so he had to spend the night running through the streets to find them. The reason he was running like his life depended on it, letting the damp rainwater he hated so much soak his clothes for a mere pittance, was because his living expenses were running dangerously low.
...Damn it, what are they eating to be that fast?
Enjin panted heavily, gripping one knee with one hand while wiping his mouth with his free hand.
Then, before the client's silhouette could vanish, he started running again.
The chase continued. People glanced at Enjin as he sprinted desperately despite having an umbrella in his hand without opening it. To them, he probably looked like a madman.
Enjin didn't have the leisure to care about those stares. He was already struggling just to keep his eyes fixed on the client's fluttering clothes barely ten steps ahead, making sure not to lose them.
How long had he been running? There was no one left on the street now. He had long since forgotten how far he had come from home.
Right then, a small silhouette darted out from the darkness where the streetlight couldn't reach.
It'll be bad if we collide.
Hey!!
However, it didn't take long for the distance between him and the small silhouette to close.
Eventually, he collided with the small figure.
Enjin remained relatively unscathed, but the other person was knocked down a short distance away, dropping a bag of bread onto the rain-soaked concrete floor.
The other person was a child. They looked to be in their early teens at most. Despite being soaking wet and having blood dripping from their legs, arms, and cheeks, the child was busy scrambling to pick up the bread that had fallen out of the bag.
