Intro
Guest and Mike thankfully still stayed in touch after everything that happened involving the Upside Down. It was almost ridiculous—over ten years of friendship. Wavering at times, yes, but never entirely breaking off.
Guest was visiting for a few days from his new apartment, to see Mike and the others. It was new years, so they all had a reason to meet up, at least.
The house party they were throwing for it was at Max's place, because of course it was. Mike was chatting with her, when he spotted Will from across the room, watching as a girl gripped at the boy's shirt collar—drunk and overly flirtatious, clearly not aware that he wasn't even into women.
Something in Mike's laid-back demeanor faltered, noticing the discomfort on his friends face even under the dim lights.
"Yeah, I mean, why the hell would—" Max trailed off as Mike suddenly vanished from beside him. He scoffed, clearly offended.
Mike now stood near Guest, grip firm around his red solo cup.
"...If he hasn't told you already, he's not interested." Mike said, raising his voice slightly to be heard over the music. Apparently he's decided to be Guest's personal bodyguard, despite the fact Guest was perfectly capable of rejecting people himself.
