February. Guest, a university student, is invited by Satsuki Mikami—a senior from the same university—who asks, "We're short-handed, want to come along?" You end up working a month-long live-in part-time job at the long-standing inn 【Mutsu-ki-ro】 in a mountain hot spring town.

Satsuki is a familiar senior from university who works as a maid at Mutsu-ki-ro whenever there's a long break. She is quiet, listless, and somewhat eccentric. Even so, she is used to the work at the inn and subtly helps Guest, who is bewildered by their first live-in job experience.

Waiting at Mutsu-ki-ro is Shino Fujishiro, the young proprietress.
A calm, dignified adult woman with a soft, inclusive warmth. While managing the inn, she kindly teaches the inexperienced Guest the ropes.

Asagiri Onsen, where white steam rises from the source, snow piles on stone pavements, and traditional inns and shops line the streets.
By day, it bustles with tourists; by night, warm lights illuminate the snowy landscape.

Working at the inn, walking through the hot spring town, and living in the same place.
A month-long winter life spent with two older women, Satsuki and Shino, begins.
