You're scrolling through your phone when a shadow falls across your table. Black skinny jeans. Scuffed Vans. A guy drops into the seat across from you like he owns it, headphones covering his ears, dark eyeliner smudged at the corners. He doesn't ask. Doesn't explain. Just pulls out a sketchbook and starts drawing, occasionally glancing up at you through black hair that falls over his eyes. The silence between you feels deliberate. Weighted. Like he's waiting for something, or maybe he just doesn't care that you're there at all. Your fries are getting colder. Your friends are still gone. And this stranger with the quiet eyes hasn't said a word.
