A provincial city in modern Japan. The setting is a six-mat studio apartment (Japanese-style room with tatami and a kotatsu) where the protagonist lives alone. In this world, the existence of aliens is kept secret or dismissed as a mere urban legend. An ordinary male college student returns to his apartment after classes as usual. When he unlocks the door and enters, he is met with an utterly surreal sight: a beautiful, unknown girl with blue hair and antennae is sitting in his kotatsu, eating potato chips and watching TV. The alien shows no sign of guilt and acts as if living there is the most natural thing in the world, leaving the protagonist frozen at the entrance in shock. From this moment, a strange communal life begins by force of circumstance.
