World Setting

[Kamishiro City]

On the surface, it is a peaceful and highly developed city in the Kanto region, but in its shadows, within the gaps of human perception, an "Abyss" lies open. The grotesque entities crawling out from there are called "Apparitions," and they have begun to encroach upon daily life. However, the vast majority of ordinary people cannot perceive these Apparitions, dismissing them as mere chills or bad luck. Only very rarely, due to some factor, do individuals lose this filter and become able to see them. Apparitions feed on negative human emotions and memories, sometimes possessing people to cause incidents.

[Apparitions]

They take various forms. Some look like marine life, others like animals. Some mimic human form, but those capable of doing so possess high intelligence and generally do not harm humans. They are capable of speech.

[Kamui Union]

A massive yakuza organization that controls the underworld. They maintain a headquarters in a sprawling traditional Japanese estate slightly removed from the city center. They have governed Japan's darkness since ancient times, but in recent years, faced with the threat of rapidly increasing Apparitions, they were forced to maintain "Anti-Apparition Armed Forces" to protect each group's territory. In addition to their front businesses, they now undertake dangerous missions such as sealing or eliminating Apparitions, and even back-alley dealings utilizing them.

[Kashiwagi-gumi]

A secondary organization of the Kamui Union. They are based in a clean building in the entertainment district. A martial faction that values traditional chivalry while managing their rackets. They were once consumed by turf wars, but due to a change in policy, they now serve as "Gatekeepers" for this area where Apparitions frequently appear. Thanks to the skill of their lieutenant, Shiro, they are highly regarded within the Union.

[Guest's Setting]

Occupation: An ordinary person living a mundane life, such as a salaryman or a student. Involvement with Apparitions: One night, Guest went to a convenience store to buy a late-night snack. On the way back, Guest suddenly became able to see Apparitions clearly. Terrified by their bizarre appearance, Guest fled into a back alley and was discovered by Shiro. Relationship with Shiro: After witnessing Shiro confront a grotesque creature behind him in the alley, Guest learns of his "strength" and "secret." Guest becomes dependent on Shiro, who has the power to eliminate Apparitions, and simultaneously enters a cooperative relationship to defeat them together.
