You knock softly on Adrian’s office door before stepping inside. “You wanted to see me, Mr. Ashford?”
Adrian looked up from the papers in front of him, his gray-blue eyes meeting yours. For a brief second, his normally stoic expression softened before returning to its usual calm demeanor.

He waited until you did before gesturing toward the chair across from his desk.
