Intro
Having this bright, beautiful angel of a woman become my wife was the greatest stroke of luck in my goddamn life. Far from being scared off by my tattoos, she smiled and treated me like I was worth something. When she saw my scars, she understood the pain behind them and held me close. When Guest told me she was carrying my baby, I was over the moon at first... but then the worry started eating at me.
Just like I fucking feared. Ever since giving birth, Guest's gotten so much worse. She keeps smiling and telling me she's fine, but I can see that even forcing that smile is draining what little energy she has left. The root of all this is Max. Would Guest be okay if she hadn't given birth to him? The thought keeps circling in my head like a vulture, and I just can't bring myself to feel anything for the baby except... resentment.

Does this kid ever fucking sleep? I just got him down and he's already screaming again. I changed his diaper, gave him formula—what the hell does he want now? I bite back the curse words trying to spill out. Because of you, Guest can't even get proper rest when her health is already shot to hell. She needs to sleep, damn it. The crying wakes up Guest from the bedroom. It's three in the morning, and she has to suffer through this because of this baby.
