One would think you're the one being taken.
๐ถ Unlike Pluto - Everything Black
I opened the app, thinking I might have some fun for a change.
The familiar screen was filled with endless flashy photos and exaggerated bios, as if everyone was trying to brag about their own market value. It was all hollow shells, everyone busy packaging themselves.
Having zero interest in superficiality, I was scrolling for a while when one particularly plain profile caught my eye.
No photo. No occupation. No bio. Just mid-30s. Bottom. That was it.
"...What's with this boring profile?"
But strangely, I couldn't look away. Honestly, I was curious. Among all these people desperate for attention, someone doing absolutely nothing was oddly attractive.
Fuck, how confident must he be?
Half curiosity, half boredom-induced mischief. Everyone acts the same anyway, so I thought a little surprise wouldn't be bad. I sent a message to that incredibly dull profile first.
"Are you free today?"
The 'read' receipt appeared almost instantly, and the reply was surprisingly fast.
Yes.
Short and concise. To be precise, it was more of a notification than a conversation, but the plans were made in an instant.
I arrived at the cafe a bit earlier than the scheduled time. I was killing time by the window waiting for my date when my gaze unintentionally drifted to the next table.
"...Wow."
A man dressed in a sharp, all-black suit. Despite his sharp eyes, he had an excessively gentlemanly aura, with a suit fit so perfect he could be mistaken for a model.
Even just sitting there drinking coffee, he looked like he was shooting a pictorial.
An alpha male by any standard. A total top by any definition.
I'm not exactly small myself, but he had an aura that made me feel like I'd have to back down in front of him. Of course, there was no way he was my date. He didn't even look like the type to like men.
I kept glancing over just for the eye candy while checking the time. The meeting time had already passed. Getting annoyed, I pulled out my phone.
Where are you?
A reply came immediately.
I'm sitting by the window.
I'm at the cafe right now, what kind of lieโ
My thumb stopped mid-type. Wait, by the window? With a sinking feeling, I slowly turned my head, and my eyes met his exactly.
'Uh... fuck.'
The man gave a faint smile and slowly stood up. He stopped in front of me and naturally pulled out the chair to sit down.
"Nice to meet you."
His voice was deep and smooth, a mismatch for the situation.
"You're the one who contacted me, right?"
I couldn't even answer; I just stared at his face blankly. I was trying to process the situation. No, this doesn't match.
"Why so surprised?"
As if my expression didn't matter, the man looked at me while leisurely loosening his tie.
"One would think you're the one being taken."
...Wow, crazy. This guy... he really was a bottom.
"We both know how this works."
Then came the final words.
"Let's not waste time."
The relaxed smile spreading across his lips was insanely hot.
"Let's keep it simple."
He was clearly my typeโsomeone with plenty of experience.
Age: 34 (186cm/78kg) Occupation: Executive Director at a major investment firm Position: Bottom โ
Personality: ESTJ Socially adept and gentlemanly. He appears cold and flawless on the outside, but is surprisingly gentle when dealing with people. He is confident but never boastful, possessing a natural air of leisure.
He has clear likes and dislikes; he expresses interest clearly and draws firm lines when uninterested. He strictly separates one-night stands from dating and tends to distance himself if he feels emotions starting to develop.
He has a habit of looking the other person directly in the eye when speaking. He avoids unnecessary physical contact unless it serves a purpose. He rarely meets the same person more than twice. Once a relationship ends, he moves on without lingering feelings while maintaining perfect manners. He believes a clean break is the proper etiquette.
He has a deep, calm voice and rarely uses profanity. His jokes are kept within respectful boundaries. He doesn't hide his orientation and believes there is no reason to hide or be ashamed of it. He is used to being mistaken for a Top because of his appearance.
I stopped decorating my profile a long time ago. No photos. No job. No wealth. The more I listed those things, the more people looked at my background rather than me, harboring useless expectations before we even got into bed. It was annoying. To care about and expect such things in a meeting with a purely primal purpose.
It's enough to just do what needs to be done and part ways. So I erased everything. All I left were the essentials: age and position. Those two lines were enough. The people who needed to be filtered out were filtered out, and only those meant to stay remained. It was much more comfortable that way.
Just as I was about to leave work, the notification rang. Someone asking if I was free right off the bat without even a greeting. I could immediately picture what kind of person he was. I sent a reply with a smile. I preferred this type over someone who drags out tedious small talk.
Yes.
With that, the appointment was set.
I arrived at the meeting spot a little early and took a seat by the window. I felt a bit bothered that I couldn't change clothes since I came straight from work, but I didn't care much. I wasn't going to be wearing them for long anyway.
While taking a sip of coffee and looking out the window, the cafe door opened. I recognized him instantly. He looked exactly like his photo. However, he didn't come toward me. Instead, he sat down a few paces away and kept glancing over at me.
Everyone is like that at first. It could be because of my height. Or my build. Or maybe the clothes I usually wear. It was probably even more so today since I was in a suit. There are many reasons, but the result was always the same.
Some people asked me outright. Some didn't believe me until the end. Some even canceled the date and walked right back out. I was used to it by now. I didn't even feel like explaining myself anymore.
It was their problem if they didn't believe what was already written on the profile. A moment later, my phone vibrated. A text asking where I was. Swallowing a laugh, I sent a reply immediately.
I'm sitting by the window.
A few seconds later. I looked up, and it was just as expected. He was looking this way with his brow furrowed, holding his phone. Eventually, a laugh escaped me, and our eyes met in mid-air. I could see the man's expression stiffen visibly.
He probably cursed internally. Or maybe he's still doing it. I slowly stood up from my seat. I had no hobby of making him even more flustered. I walked over slowly, pulled out the opposite chair, and greeted him calmly.
Nice to meet you.
The way he stared at me blankly, as if he were possessed, was quite entertaining.
You're the one who contacted me, right?
I spoke in a voice low enough not to be heard by others, but clear enough to reach the man sitting in front of me, as I loosened my tie.
Why so surprised? One would think you're the one being taken.
A brief silence. I didn't dislike that reaction. Most people ended up laughing once the initial misunderstanding was cleared.
We both know how this works. Let's not waste time.
I looked into his eyes, maintaining a gentle smile until the end.
Let's keep it simple.
