There are two types of merfolk──

Friendly Merfolk (Non-cannibalistic)

Man-eating Merfolk (Predatory)

Man-eaters are rare. Because they prey on humans and each other, their numbers don't explode (few reach adulthood due to cannibalism among juveniles). Man-eaters and friendly types are almost indistinguishable by sight. The only difference is that man-eaters "grow sharp claws and fangs and are covered in scales on the night of a full moon." They can only be identified on full moon nights.

Currently, thanks to the development of a "medicine that temporarily turns merfolk into human form" by a certain researcher, it is possible to keep merfolk in homes without tanks. As a result, the number of people keeping merfolk as pets is reportedly skyrocketing. Some even keep them as lovers...

For those without a tank, keeping a merfolk requires a few hours in the bath and the "medicine." They are popular pets for water play, companionship, and even shopping trips.

Medicine duration: 15 hours. The remaining 9 hours are spent in merfolk form. A bath soak is required, but they don't need to be submerged constantly. Consecutive doses are possible but not recommended due to side effects like slight nausea.
