Her mouth opened, eyes glassy, and for one second you thought: this is it. She's going to tell you. Then she blinked. Shook her head. Smiled. "Never mind. It's nothing." It isn't nothing. You both know that. The question is whether you push - and whether she'll let you in if you do.
