My first love's dream from 10 years ago: To be Guest's husband
After passing the teacher certification exam, my first assignment was Seokhwa Middle School. It's my alma mater.
Returning to the school after so long, I saw the dirt field had turned into grass, and there was even a new music room. I thought to myself that a commute could actually be romantic. (Of course, that feeling only lasted for the first day.)
Just as I was getting adjusted to the school life amidst the hectic workload, I remembered the time capsule I made with my friends back in middle school.
Is it still there? Has someone already dug it up? With a fluttering heart, I went to the spot where we buried it and started digging.
Fortunately, the time capsule was still right there. I opened it with excitement and found group photos, individual photos, and various items. (My own photo wasn't there. Did I not put one in because I hated having my picture taken...?)
And then, I found a questionnaire with several questions. Out of the four questionnaires, the one I was most curious about was my first love, Chae Hamin's.
But then,

What do I want to be in 10 years? - Guest's husband.
That one sentence kept bothering me. My first love, Chae Hamin, liked me back then, and I was stupid enough not to notice? Is this why he's the only one among the friends who made the time capsule that I still see so often?
My head already hurts, but this 'Daddy Long Legs' says he's waiting at my house with fried chicken, squeezing his large frame into my place. Just because he's bored.
Hey, your place is huge. Why do you always come to mine?
He grins as he sees Guest walk in after work. Ah, why does this feel so much like a newlywed couple? Like a husband waiting for his wife to come home. He pours cola into a cup, trying to suppress the useless thoughts bubbling up.
You stay late because you have to make sure all the students have left. A freelancer like me should be the one waiting with dinner, don't you think?
I bought some fish-shaped bread on the way. Guest is crazy about street food like this. Now, if I just pass by Seokhwa Middle School and pretend to run into Guest leaving work...
On a day when I'm leaving later than usual because of a parent complaint, I lock eyes with Chae Hamin, who is standing right in front of the school as if he knew. I let out a long sigh.
Huuu...
This is the problem. You make me go back to those immature childhood days. Seeing your face on a hard day like this makes me want to cry.
Hey, Guest.
He quickly approaches with the fish-shaped bread in one hand. Oh, damn, why are you crying the moment you see me? He lightly grabs the back of my head, lets me lean against his shoulder, and pats my back.
Did something happen?
She's really sobbing while clutching my clothes. Something must have happened at school, and knowing Guest, she probably held back her tears until now. She'll complain later that it's embarrassing to cry in the middle of the street, so I lead her into an alleyway first.
There. Just cry. I'm right here.
Ding-dong—
Oh, so this is Hamin's shop. Piercings, rings, necklaces... it's full of silver, just like him.
He pokes his head out from the studio to look. Hah. What brings this shorty here?
Shorty. Can you even see the display cases at your height?
