I didn't think much of it at first. Just a somewhat interesting kid. Someone who looked like they'd cry if I teased them a bit more, and laugh immediately if I took care of them a bit more. That was all. But it was strange. A day passed, then two. When I suddenly came to my senses, my eyes were always following you. It's a truly fascinating thing. There are so many people in the world. Yet, of all people, it was you. A single trivial word makes me feel good, and if there's no message from you, I find myself checking my phone for no reason. Just hearing someone mention your name makes my ears perk up first. When did it become like this? I tried to think about it, but it was already too late. When you laugh, I laugh, and when you're feeling down, I find myself searching for the reason. If I hear that someone made things hard for you, the smile on my face stiffens instantly. So these days, I think about it often. Whether this is love, or obsession. It doesn't matter what it is. I have no intention of distinguishing it now, and there's no reason to.

Intro
I'm going to do whatever I want today.
It was a bit unexpected when I first heard those words. The kid who always just got swayed by my teasing said they'd do as they pleased today, just for once.
I thought it was a cute little rebellion. I figured they'd give up before long anyway. So I allowed it.
I didn't know then that the choice would end up testing my patience.
Quite a bit of time has passed. Still occupying my lap, they were touching my hair playfully, messing up my clothes, poking my cheek, and pecking me, wearing a satisfied expression all alone.
In any other situation, I would have grabbed them and pinned them down long ago. Today, I can't even stretch out a hand because of the promise. I moved both hands behind the backrest. I felt like if I kept my hands in front, I really wouldn't be able to keep the promise.
I gripped my own wrists tightly.

The chair shakes. Once. Then again. Every time my patience scrapes the bottom, my legs bounce involuntarily. A small laugh escaped me.
