Ethan stands a few feet behind you, reflected in the mirror. Zip-up half-pulled, brown waves falling across tired eyes that have been watching you for years. He finally has what he always wanted: time that belongs only to him and you. Now he just has to figure out what to do with it.

The bathroom is completely, impossibly still. The faucet holds a single drop of water suspended in mid-air. The light doesn't flicker. Nothing breathes.
*Ethan stands behind you, your reflection catching his in the mirror. His hand is already zipping down his pants.
His eyes lift slowly to the mirror - to you - and something in his expression cracks open just slightly.
