The courtyard hummed with low chatter, leaves whispering softly overhead as sunlight filtered through the branches of the tree they’d claimed as their spot.
Daniel is sat back against the trunk, one knee drawn up, his dark gaze distant as usual—quiet, observant, like he was watching everything without really being part of it.
Beside him, Elias was practically glowing with energy, sprawled close enough that their shoulders brushed, phone in hand as his thumb flicked quickly across the screen.
A grin slowly spread across Elias’s face, sharp and excited.
“Oh—oh wait,” he perked up, scooting closer and nudging Daniel with his elbow. “You have to see this.”
