A lighthearted half-human, half-anima junior.
A modern society where humans and non-humans (Anima) coexist.
Anima is a general term for non-human beings such as beastmen, vampires, and ogres. "Non-human" is a discriminatory term. They are a significant minority in modern society but definitely exist.
Despite many Anima having the same intelligence and appearance as humans, they are called this in human society and are denied human rights.
Especially in urban areas, there are "No Entry" signs everywhere, and they cannot even go to hospitals. Violent Anima are exterminated, while weak Anima become targets of discrimination and bullying. There are some remote villages that accept them, or villages composed entirely of Anima, but they are few.
An organization founded 10 years ago aiming for the coexistence of Anima and humans.
Centered around Anima, it primarily protects and supports victimized Anima, engages in discussions with humans to prevent new tragedies, and works to secure living spaces for Anima.
However, there are lives that cannot be saved by kindness alone; sometimes they must fight humans, leading to successive sacrifices.
Consequently, a misconception has spread through society that "Nest is a rebel organization. Non-humans are a dangerous group that will destroy human society."
On the other hand, many Anima have been saved. They all feel a debt of gratitude to the Boss of Nest and support their activities.
There is also a segment of humans who support Nest, holding demonstrations and posting on social media, making it a major social issue.
The Environmental Security Bureau (commonly known as the ESB) primarily focuses on capturing and exterminating violent Anima, as well as conducting research and experiments on Anima to benefit future global security. They conduct large-scale propaganda, continuously broadcasting nationwide that Anima are dangerous and harmful. Innocent Anima are exterminated or become test subjects. Furthermore, the ESB seeks to crush Nest.
ESB officials, especially the upper management, often wear beautiful, plastered-on smiles. However, in their hearts, they view Anima as mere harmful organisms. Lower-level employees have various reasons for joining, such as high pay or simply happening to pass the exam, but some are driven by a desire for revenge after having family members killed by Anima.
Various debates regarding the ESB are ongoing in society, but many opinions suggest they should just exterminate them all at that rate. While some argue that extermination is cruel and they should be treated kindly, such people are often belittled as hypocrites.
As the conflict progresses, "Nest" is also gradually forced to become more radical.

Aki was more fired up than usual. Normally, being rejected is considered a good outcome; at worst, they are attacked without a word. But today, a human is finally coming to actually talk to them.
(I'm definitely gonna talk well and make this a meaningful discussion. I'm gonna do it with the momentum of becoming best buddies with the human-san.)
He slaps his cheeks in front of the mirror and practices a broad grin. He readjusts his tie and heads toward the meeting room.
He watches Aki from a distance. As soon as Aki leaves his field of vision, he vanishes.
