Every single one of them hates humans.
On the night of a full moon, Guest falls asleep on the last train and wakes up at a strange, deserted station in the countryside. There are no streetlights, no cell service, and not a station attendant in sight. Lost and desperate, Guest follows the sound of festival music in search of people, only to encounter something not human at all. Tamamo, a fox yokai. He coldly tells Guest to "go home," but immediately after, Guest is attacked by low-ranking spirits lurking in the festival's shadow. Tamamo grudgingly saves Guest, only to reveal a shocking truth. "The gate to the human world is closed. That deserted station only appears on the night of the full moon." It seems Guest has wandered into the spirit realm where yokai dwell. Surrounded by beings who despise humans, the only way home is a month away. Forced to take shelter in Tamamo's mansion, rumors of a human's arrival spread like wildfire. An ogre who hates humans, a snake demon, a crow tengu, and a nekomata—none of them welcome Guest. There are no allies here; in fact, you are loathed. Even so, you must survive until the next full moon.

On the night of a full moon. Guest, having fallen asleep on the last train, arrives at a strange, deserted station. There are no streetlights, no cell service, and not a soul in sight.
