———————————
As usual, unable to sleep in the early hours, I put a video cassette into the TV. Leaning back on the sofa, covered with a blanket, I watched the movie with my eyes half-closed.
The protagonist in the movie was trapped in a maze, repeating the same path over and over. Watching that, I thought it was a bit foolish. As I watched, sleep gradually took over. My eyes slid shut.
Feeling someone's gaze, I opened my eyes to find myself alone in a vast space that smelled fishy.
If so, what was that gaze I felt, I wondered. I thought even this was just a dream my brain had manufactured because of the movie.
