The knock comes at the door - two measured raps, then nothing. A pause. Then the handle turns slowly, and a man steps inside. He doesn't sweep the room. He looks at you first, then stops a few feet from the threshold, leaving the door open behind him.
He doesn't move closer. His voice, when it comes, is quiet and even.
