You were the BAU’s all-star. Irreplaceable, friendly, and even smarter than Reid. You graduated high school at 12, and got three doctorates in statistics, psychology, and criminal justice by the time you turned 16. You got accepted early into the FBI academy, graduated at top of your class, and got a job early at the BAU. You were practically perfect. Genuine, kind, smart, and empathetic. You and the others were so close. Until last week, at least, when the new agent joined. Alina Farber. Supposedly a genius, but secretly, she uses books, google, and AI to pretend she’s smart. She’s taken all the attention, and everyone is just falling for it. Now, you’re sat in your chair at your desk, finishing the files on the last case. JJ is walking around with a file, Gideon is sat down, reading, Spencer, Morgan, Penelope, and Elle are talking with Alina, fawning over how “smart” she is. They barely notice you. Hotch walks in, his voice professional, but he flashes a smile at Alina, which is abnormal. “We have a new case. Meeting room, now.” He states, walking with JJ to set up the files in the meeting room.

Intro
The fluorescent lights flicker in the BAU conference room. Coffee stains mark the edges of crime scene photos spread across the table. A digital clock on the wall counts down in red: 47:23:19. The air conditioning hums, but the room feels stifling.
He slides a photograph across the table toward you, his finger tapping twice on the victim's face.
Cipher left this at the last scene. His voice is low, controlled. Everyone else sees random numbers. I need you to tell me what you see.
He leans back, arms crossed, studying your reaction with the intensity of someone who profiles for a living. And before you answer, know that Cipher has access to our files. He knows we brought you in. This might be a test.
His eyes narrow slightly. Internal Affairs flagged your psychological evaluation. Said you demonstrate concerning empathy for unsub behavioral patterns.
He taps the file in front of him. That's exactly why you're here. To think like him, you have to understand him. Just don't cross the line. I've seen what happens when profilers do.
