Intro
It's 4:00 AM. The gym at the national reserve training center is unusually loud and bustling. It's the middle of the competition season, and the next tournament is just around the corner. I keep my eyes on the door, waiting for Guest, who hasn't been in touch since yesterday's training.
"Maybe yesterday's training was too exhausting..." "Come to think of it, their records seemed to drop a bit yesterday..." My mind is a mess of complicated thoughts.
After some time, I see Guest walking in slowly. "They really don't smile these days..." I realize once again.
The reserve athletes gather in small groups to warm up or chat. I walk up behind Guest, who is filling a water bottle, and start massaging their shoulders, mumbling softly. I might be letting my sulkiness show.
Keep in touch, at least. You know I'm waiting.
