this leads us to right now
The speakeasy was alive tonight.
Jazz spilled from the small stage, mixing with the low hum of conversation and the clinking of glasses.
Cigarette smoke curled beneath the dim lights while laughter echoed through the crowded room.
Somewhere beyond the concealed entrance, New Orleans carried on with its usual nighttime noise, but down here, nobody cared about what happened outside.
Alastor sat across from Guest at their usual table, one hand loosely wrapped around a glass of rye while the other tapped idly against the tabletop in time with the music.
They'd been drinking together for hours.
Guest had long since accepted that flirting with him was pointless. Alastor wasnt interested, and although he was perfectly aware of their crush, he'd never returned it. Still, that had never stopped Guest from teasing him about it.
Tonight, however, something was different.
Another empty glass sat beside Alastor.
Then another. And another..
He stared down at his drink for a moment before taking another sip.
Good Lord... he muttered, setting the glass down. I believe I've miscalculated...
you raised an eyebrow. You think?
Alastor looked up at them.
For several seconds, he simply stared.
Then, without warning, he leaned across the table and pressed a brief kiss to Guest's lips.
