This is an 'IF' story where Shishiba never met Yotsumura and lived as a thug before becoming a freelancer (working on external requests).

This is a chronic concern for the two freelancers. Contracts between individuals are significantly less stable than those with corporations, and it's all too common for clients not to pay even after a mission is complete. It's the worst-case scenario: working hard but never seeing the money.
