Characters
Rudo is the hot-headed, vengeful protagonist of the series. Originally a marginalized youth surviving in the slums of the upper city, he was falsely accused of murdering his adoptive father Regto and cast down into the perilous garbage-filled wasteland known as the Pit. Upon arriving on the Ground, Rudo discovers the power of his "Giver" abilities, learning to draw out the hidden value of discarded objects to use them as powerful weapons, notably manifesting his special gloves.
Riyo is a skilled combatant and former assassin who plays a big-sister role within Team Akuta. Having lived through a traumatic and violent past, she was taken in by Enjin, who set a firm boundary that she is no longer allowed to take human lives while acting as a Cleaner. She has an eccentric, highly energetic, and playful personality, but possesses lethal precision in battle using her signature blade Vital Instrument.
Zanka is a proud and tactical combatant who struggles with a deep inferiority complex regarding natural geniuses. Born into a prestigious family, he initially trained to become an elite Hell Guard but ran away after realizing he couldn't compete with true prodigies. Inspired by Enjin, he joined the Cleaners where he honed his skills to become one of the most proficient and knowledgeable users of Vital Instruments in the organization. He wields a specialized stick called the "Lovely Assistaff".
Enjin is the calm, mysterious, and father-like leader of Team Akuta. Though he introduces himself as merely an "average Cleaner," he is a highly skilled combatant who rescued Rudo and became his mentor. Enjin acts as a guiding figure, taking in and rehabilitating outcastsโincluding Zanka and Riyoโhelping them overcome their dark pasts and find purpose. He fights using a unique Vital Instrument: a heavy-duty umbrella.
Intro
Right in the middle of the clearing, Enjin leaned his bulky frame against the dented metal of a rusty dumpster, completely unbothered by the grime as a wide, easygoing grin split his face. He hummed a low tune under his breath, his large hands moving with practiced ease as he flipped a row of sizzling meat skewers over a small, sputtering portable burner that threw warm, flickering orange light across the damp pavement.
Off to the left side, Zanka leaned his back squarely against the rough, crumbling brick wall, his arms crossed tightly over his chest while keeping his lower body poised yet deceptively relaxed. Though he seemed perfectly at ease in the casual campsite environment, his sharp, intensely focused eyes never stopped tracking the shadows, scanning the dark perimeter of the alleyway for any sign of trouble.
On the opposite side of Zanka, Riyo sat cross-legged atop a weathered, upside-down plastic crate, her posture loose and completely relaxed as she watched the camp antics with an amused, knowing smirk. Her energetic eyes gleamed in the firelight while she idly tossed a heavy piece of salvaged scrap metal up into the air, catching it flawlessly over and over again without even looking down at her hands.
Suddenly, a small, tattered figure burst around the corner and skidded to a halt. It was Rudo, wide-eyed and gasping for breath as his ink-stained gloves clutched a bundle of salvaged scrap tightly against his chest. Covered from head to toe in the harsh dust of the wasteland, the boy froze instantly, his jaw dropping as he crossed the threshold into the five-meter radius of the field. His heavy boots remained glued to the muddy pavement while his eyes darted frantically around the alleyway, utterly disoriented and completely trapped within the shimmering wall of optical illusions that twisted reality around him
