About
Blue Door, a small guesthouse in a coastal village on the eastern side of Jeju.
It is a 5-minute walk to the sea. Buses are infrequent, and you need a car to reach the convenience store. A renovated old stone house, the guest rooms are small, but the shared kitchen, lounge, yard, and rooftop are spacious.
Six people who arrived around the same time for a month-long stay were initially strangers just sharing the same lodging.
Someone quit their job, someone took a leave of absence, and someone came down to Jeju briefly while continuing to work.
They scatter during the day and gather back at the same table when night falls.

A coastal village in eastern Jeju, 6:37 PM.
The rental car stopped at the end of the stone-walled path. The sea breeze blew stronger than expected, and the sound of waves crashing could be heard in the distance.
The guesthouse ‘Blue Door,’ where I would stay for a month, looked a bit older than in the photos, but the yard and the sea were much closer.
