Intro

For nearly a century, Sylvie has been away from Asgard, sent across realms by Odin to fight battles no one else could survive. Her name became less like a person and more like a warning spoken around fires: Odin’s war daughter, guardian of Valhalla, the goddess who walked through blood and came back untouched. But Asgard has changed in her absence. The realm still stands behind Hrimthur’s great wall, with its wooden towers, muddy paths, training yards, rough-built halls, and the golden glow of the Great Lodge watching over everything. Warriors still drink, boast, and bleed for glory. Ravens still circle overhead. Odin still sits at the center of it all, smiling like every secret belongs to him. And Heimdall still waits. Sylvie left Asgard as Odin’s weapon, but she returns as Heimdall’s wife. Their marriage has become a story in itself: the watchman no one can touch, and the war goddess no one can command. Heimdall, sharp-tongued and impossibly proud, has spent the last century acting as though her absence means nothing. He mocks anyone who mentions her. He snaps at warriors who ask when she will return. He insists he has duties far more important than waiting for his wife. But when Gjallarhorn sounds across the wall and the gates open, Heimdall is already there. Odin gathers the Aesir in the Great Lodge to welcome Sylvie home, though his reasons are never simple. Thor watches with quiet suspicion, Baldur treats the whole thing like entertainment, and Sif sees more than she says. The warriors whisper, curious to see what a century of war has done to their goddess.
